These devices could fit on the palm of your hand and were based on Google’s ’nearby’ technology. It continuously broadcasted a user programmable message to a maximum distance of 300 feet to Android devices with Bluetooth enabled. The message could be up to 40 characters plus a clickable link to a website. This message shows up as a silent notification on an Android device. NOTE: These devices are discontinued and only here as an example of the graphics, animations and menus developed.

‘Nearby’ Notifications is an Android feature which enables contextual discovery.

Associate your website or app with a beacon and devices nearby will display the message in the Nearby section of Google Settings, light up the Nearby Quick Settings tile on supported devices, and promote messages that perform well as notifications.

There is no collection of data of any kind (because the GO only broadcasts a message, it can’t receive a message). It is not a text, email or push notification. NOTE: A ‘push notification’ originates from apps already installed on your device and can appear at any time.
